From the Wood Pile

Journal of the life & projects of a Pennsylvania woodworker

It Has been some time since I last posted and here is the update, it is finally almost done. I had a huge delay that I will post here soon with its own separate post. I just want to keep the good vibes flowing and post great progress of a great looking shell. I am very happy with the log home and how it looks. Enjoy ! Happy New Year !

I has been a real hot and humid summer but i have been working hard here in the center of PA. I am working on a 28x40 shell for a nice fellow. It has been going well and getting height. I hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking !

My Last week in South Carolina and it is really taking shape with the decks on.

Hope you like the new ends of the logs i am real happy with the arches !

By means of tracing-paper I transfer my design to the wood and draw on that.

So we just had a nice full moon, 90 degree days, got most of the windows and doors done. It was a healthy week and here we are starting another! Hot again I am ready for a POOL or Lake that is not a swamp.

The things I make may be for others, but how I make them is for me.

Here are a few more photos of the South Carolina project

Hello people of the web. The log builder is back and moving along great on a new project well i should say almost done project here in South Carolina. I started back on  March 12th and in 7 weeks i got the shell peeled and stacked and the ridge pole set. I have been working long days. That is my excuse for not posting on this more. Here are a few photos of the project and as it stands. hope you enjoy !!

It has been hard to get moving on this project with the sun dropping so fast but it is slowly building up. It wasn’t till 5:30 today when the sun dropped away. I almost have a complete first round which is always the hardest for me. I am excited to be building again and I am glad my brother and pops where here Saturday to help me square up things. I really needed the help and now I can move on along with the project. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

I was asked earlier last month to have some woodworking for the Huntingdon Arts Council and this is what i came up with. It all turned out well and sold some bowls lots or great people involved there. I just got the a work site working again and got ridging set up so i can move my 1000+lb logs around. It is a great feeling and now that the weather is finally getting cold i am already missing climbing. The picture is from this fall on a fun evening under stretch.
